IN the RTD function bar, their are inputs labled ‘topic1’, ‘topic2’, etc. This is where you place the data you are trying to retrieve (‘last price’, ‘Mark’, etc.). Is there a list of topic codes for this function that will work with thinkorswim?

Not sure I follow. But on Thinkorswim, in the same location you export the live feed to Microsoft Excel, you will find another menu option “Help on data export”. This would be the only source of additional information available.

That’s exactly what I was looking for (help on data export). That is the list of topic codes I wanted to reference. thanks.

Thank you for the information. The location of “Help on data export” is on the Trade / All Products tab. then go to far right click on the 3 bars and highlight “Export”. You will see it there.
My question is what is “NAME” for? It certainly doesn’t work for Tickers. I have to use “DESCRIPTION”.

I don’t think that is what DW is looking for. He is asking about the formulas in the Excel spreadsheet. He is wondering if there is any documentation on which codes are available when building custom formulas in the Excel spreadsheet when using the RTD() function for reading live market data directly from Thinkorswim. The link you provided has to do with writing custom chart studies and indicators. Totally different tool.

Hi Pete! I am using WPS Office Excel Spreadsheet to download RTD from Thinkorswim. Everything works fine except, when the live data begins the following morning, all of my RTD data is static until I refresh each entry on my spreadsheet by retyping one of the letters in the cell. Is this normal? I was hoping it would just start up again automatically each morning.

It’s been a very long time since I have used this feature so I am not certain if anything has changed. I can only tell you that at the time I published this video the saved spreadsheet worked just fine on startup. No need to jump through extra hoops. FYI, I have never heard of “WPS Office Excel”. Is that a knock-off version of Microsoft Excel? If so, I would suspect that to be a problem.

Thx, is there away to attach an excel spreadsheet that I am working on as an example, when I do so?

Sorry but Excel file types are not supported at this time. The forum on this site is geared solely towards trading platforms and Excel spreadsheets are not a direct component of any trading platform.

Hi. I am getting the live data – thanks for the help!
And do you know if there a way using RTD to read, lets say Volume for an equity every 30 minutes during regular trading hours? So basically I would like to have a cell for each 30 minute increment so I can save it.
