Hello,

My name is Wayne. I have no programming experience but I am interested in learning. How do I begin to build a scanner that scans for stocks that:

  1.  have a 10% or more rise in a month
  2.  have 8 or more years of available data
  3.  have risen 10% or more in the same month 70% or more of the time in the last 8 years
  4.  I would like to be able to specify the month for the scan

In the future, please make your question title a bit more descriptive than “Stock Scanner”. Since we are already posting in the Stock Scanner category, that is a given. Consider what descriptive words you can use that might cause other visitors to the site take an interest in what you are requesting.

Having said that, we have a limitation within Thinkorswim that prevents us from constructing a scan that you have specified. The historical data available is only 2 years when running a custom scan.
