I need to see in my watchlist, which stocks are trading on NASDAQ, NYSE, and OTC

this way I can avoid the OTC stocks as they charge a commission, are illiquid, have restricted hours. they are less desirable stocks to trade. especially when scalping and/or building a position slowly. the commissions can kill you.

 

imagine buying one share at a time and getting charged 6 bucks for commissions on a penny stock. it would be great to see this in the watchlist. especially if we can color code NASDAQ as blue, NYSE as teal and OTC as Red

There is nothing in the Thinkorswim language itself that can provide this. The built-in columns that you can add to a watchlist also do not provide this. So at this time it is not possible to display or flag specific stocks within a watchlist as to what index they are assigned to.

My personal preference is to filter out undesirable stocks by building a custom scan. There are top level filters for all of those items you mentioned, an more.

Peter thanks for responding however on a side note regarding this website social group and questions/answers, I am not getting any notification when you answered. I get a message on my phone on youtube and other social apps, so i am used to that. but on here I don't see any indication that it was answered. can you tell me where to go on this site to flag the option for getting notification when our answer gets addressed? thanks

When you post a new question there is a checkbox named "Send Me Email Updates". Just make sure you check that before clicking the button named "Add Question". I just recently tested this and I know that it is working. I suggest you check your spam folder and if the email notifications are getting flagged as spam you can add the senders email address to your contacts list and that should prevent them being flagged as spam.
