Hi. I am doing a back-testing for WMT using this script but I do not know if I missed something. I set the inputs 9/26/1/3/YES/Cloud Break. On 07/13/2020, I think it should show a bullish signal, but it is not showed on the chart. Any recommendations or suggestion on what could be happening is really appreciated. Thank you for your amazing work.

The video explains exactly how to adjust all of the settings and how each of the settings impacts the signals it generates. There is no way I can explain things in any more detail here in the comments section of the video.

Is it possible to send SMS alert using a custom study on a Renko chart? I see the Study Alert and have followed through it using your video (very good) above and other resources. I have set my TOS to have email and phone number confirmed. But when I try and create an alert using the Study Alert, I do not have a Renko chart option. Closest I get is a bar chart but no Renko. Is there a work around?

    • Pete Hahn Post author

There is no work around. Char studies are not able to send sms/email/push notifications and the only tool on Thinkorswim that supports Renko bars are the charts.

Hi Pete. My sincerest appreciation for all the outstanding work you have shared with the community! I reviewed all the videos regarding the Ichimoku charts over the weekend. In terms of the study settings, I am having problems finding where I can change the inputs for the SpanA within the study. I see the plots for SpanA can be modified easily but according to Senters ( at 7:33, we should also focus on the Cloud extended period (Span A?) based on the time horizon we will be using. Welcome any clarity regarding this question. Thanks again!

If you are talking about the section of the cloud that extends 26 bars to the right of the last bar on the chart…. That is controlled by the “kijun period” input. However I do not believe that Hubert ever recommended adjusting this parameter because it will impact everything on the Ichimoku chart. It is an integral metric that is used to compute almost everything else in the Ichimoku. Go back and watch that section of the video again. Hubert was taking about how the time frame selected for the chart impacts the length of time you can expect to be in a trade. There was no implication whatsoever that the cloud should be adjusted.

    Hi Pete,

    Very informative website!

I am trying to use Chart_Alert_Ichimoku to buy and sell when Chikou crosses Kijun (downward direction). How do I identify when Chikou is crossing Kijun using this alert or additional code update?

    Hope you can help me.

    Goodmorning Jeff,

First of all thank you for all the help, your videos are awesome.

Understand the video instructions perfectly, only one question. Any way to put my entire watch list on here for text alerts when my study triggers?

    Thank you.

  • Josh Stadler

So in order to receive text alerts for any forex pair or stock or anything I need to make a simple last price based alert then a long and short alert for each pair or stock?

Hi Pete, Thanks for the video. The link to the STUDY file on the video did not work for me. Clicking just pauses or plays the video on my browser. Could you send me a link to download the file?

    Thanks Pete.

Great job. It’s sounds as if you’re beginning to get overloaded with projects you want to complete. As a newbie, I am trying to set my tools up first then look at my practices and disciplines 2nd. I know it may be backwards, but that’s where my head goes sometime.

Happy New Year Pete and keep up the great work.

Thanks! Most of my time these days is spent building custom projects for our viewers. Had no idea how many folks out there require my professional services building them custom tools. But I love every bit of it.

      • Paul Brown

you make it easy to understand. It’s funny saying that since I am in a highly technical position. but it’s a completely different field. Folks like yourself are a genuine diamond in the rough. with all of the commercialization out here, it’s so easy to get confused about where to go. Lot’s of Hype.

      • Pete Hahn Post author

        Hi Paul,
Thanks so much for this wonderful feedback. You have confirmed that the material I am publishing is hitting the nail on the head. This is exactly what I am trying to achieve.

  • Brandon

Sorry if this has been asked but how do you set the alert status to continuous? My alert triggers and then I have to reset it. -Thank you!

    • Pete Hahn Post author

The default setting for alerts in this custom study are set to “Repeatedly for each bar”. That setting will not require you to “reset” the alert. I’m not even sure how you would “reset” an alert. But if you had changed the alert setting to “Once, and then become disabled”, I can see this would cause the behavior you have described. Hope that helps!

Where can I get the study for the cloud alerts? I have watched the video but can’t find the study link.. Thanks!

    • Pete Hahn Post author

The link is presented in the video, inside a white rectangle shortly after the instructions are complete. Just click on the link when it appears.

Pete: When you run the breakout w C I can not run the opposite at the same time. How would I make 2 indicators one above the cloud and the second indicator showing the trigger below the cloud, at the same time? If I try to change the name and save it both change the last name. How do I make two indicators doing opposite things?

    • Pete Hahn Post author

Any chart study or strategy can be added to the chart multiple times. Having added it to the chart twice, you will see that you can adjust the settings of each using the standard study inputs. There is no need to change any code.

  • Ali

Thanks Pete for the great videos and material. truly appreciate it. I am new to trading and learning great stuff from your videos.

Is it possible to modify the code in this alert so as to differentiate colors for the “cloud break” arrows from the “T/K” arrows? Do you know how to do this? I would like to tell the alerts apart just by looking at the screen.

I tried adding “longSignal2” and “shortSignal2” to the code by duplicating it but I got error messages.
